ギリシア・ローマ神話学研究会では、下記要領でブラウン大学のBoedeker教授の講演会を開催します。

題目：Early Greek Poets as/and Historians

概要

A great deal of ancient Greek poetry, beginning with the Homeric Iliad and Odyssey, purports to deal with the past.

Like all Greeks, the early prose historians and proto-historians of the fifth century could not ignore poetic traditions

as they tried to construct the past, even though they did so from a self-consciously different, more objective perspective.

This paper looks at ways in which both poets and historians vied to establish their authority over the past.
